Earlier, we reported here that Stephen Gately died at the age of 33. However, the cause of the death has yet to be determined when the article was published. Autopsy of Gately has just finished and the identified cause of his death is due to excess fluid in his lungs.
According to the spokeswoman in the Majorcan capital of Palma, Gately died a natural death of acute pulmonary oedema. His death has nothing to do with any consumption of drugs or alcohol.
The water on the lungs can either be due to a failure of the heart to remove fluid from the lungs or the lung tissue was damaged.
