Pia Wurtzbach to guest judge on Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5
There is now official confirmation that Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, the current Miss Universe, will be a special guest in the fifth season of Asia’s Next Top Model.
There were already talks back in September 2016 about Wurtzbach appearing in AsNTM because of numerous instances wherein people have seen her and were able to photograph her while on the set of the show with the other staff and judges. One fan was even able to take a photo and post it on her Instagram, wherein Miss Wurtzbach was seated on the director’s chair. This gained a lot of commotion at the time, a lot of fans of the show and Wurtzbach’s were hoping to get confirmation.
Asia’s Next Top Model has let its fans have a sneak peek of what they can expect from season five of AsNTM by posting a teaser poser in their social media sites. And it was there that the once rumored and just talks of people about Wurtzbach being a guest, has been confirmed. The teaser poster featured host Cindy Bishop, director YuTsai, supermodel Cara G Mcilroy and “special guest” Wurtzbach.
No official statement or part of the teaser poster has mentioned if Wurtzbach will be a judge and for how many episodes she will be included. Although in previous seasons of the show, guests are normally included in the judges’ panel for one or more episodes.
As popular as the show and Pia Wurtzbach is, mixed reactions are being expressed by people in social media.
When the news officially broke out, social media has been buzzing nonstop. Some, such as fans of Pia and fellow beauty queens, have expressed their delight and joy and have congratulated Miss Wurtzbach in taking another stepping stone, wishing her the best of luck in the show.
While there are those that have expressed their sentiments and negative reactions regarding the news. These reactions were a reflection of the comments the show has received from Filipino fans. The probable reason for this is because of how in the past seasons, Filipina models who have joined AsNTM have not won but have only been close to winning because of the believed to be “bias” of the judges.
Monika Sta. Maria, Julian Flores, Jodilly Pendre, Katarina Rodriguez and Stephanie Retuya, were the Filipina models who have joined the competition and who have almost reached the top but have always ended up only as runner ups in the show.
There are those that have explained what they think about the action, including Pia Wurtzbach in AsNTM as a guest, were a way to give a peace of mind to the Filipino viewers the show has. It was to show the “unbias” and fairness of the show towards each contestant.
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach surely has a lot of fans that will start to keep a close eye and keep tabs on AsNTM once it airs and this will be a great boost for AsNTM.
The fifth season will start airing by March of 2017.
We are all excited to see what a Miss Universe can bring differently to the table of the AsNTM world.
