Maxene and Pia Magalona Spearhead Cervical Cancer Awareness
The mother and daughter tandem, Pia and Maxene Magalona, spearheads a campaign for women to prevent cervical cancer. After the death of Francis Magalona, they have been active in spreading awareness on this deadly disease especially among women. Last September 23, the concert “Laban ni Maria: Rocking Against Cervical Cancer” was held at the Eastwood Central Plaza. Highlights of that event was Elmo, son of the late Francis M., sang the song “Higante” that his father wrote together with one of his best friends in the music industry, Ely Buendia. Pia Magalona was a proud mama upon seeing her son perform for the first time. She says that he moves and sings like his dad.
