“Kinatay” won awards in a Spanish Filmfest
In the 42nd Sitges International Film Festival (held in Spain), Brillante Mendoza won as Best Director for “Kinatay”. “Kinatay” has an international title “The Execution of P”. Aside from the Best Director award, Teresa Barrozo won the Best Original Soundtrack for this movie.
The organizers of the said film festival commented on Brillante’s work as “an uncomfortable, abrasive film camouflaged with a stifling ultra-realism where the camera captures, in first person, the story of a kidnapping that will make even the bravest’ hair stand on end.”
