Ramil Cirujano, ex-audio man of Eat Bulaga, filed a case against TAPE Inc. (Television and Production Exponent Inc) for violating Republic Act 8282 or the Social Security Act and RA 7875 or the National Health Insurance Act. He claimed that he was fired from being an audio-man of the show because he was not able to attend the dry runs for Eat Bulaga in May 2009.
Cirujano said that he did not receive any appointment paper or a contract of employment and that he asked to be given his regularization papers. Last May 2009, there was a memorandum posted on bulletin boards of TAPE’s offices directing to all Engineering Department personnel to stay after the show because they need to attend the dry runs. Cirujano felt that he was not part of the memorandum. He was given a memorandum of reprimand last May 27 and had occasions where he had to explain his absence and attended the hearings with other employees.
He was terminated last August 2009 because TAPE did not accept his explanation. He is accusing of TAPE of not enrolling him in Philhealth and Pag-ibig Fund after several years of working for them.
