The health condition of the country’s comedy king Rodolfo “Dolphy” V. Quizon Sr. continues to improve but remains under close monitoring at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Makati Medical Center (MMC).
In medical bulletin released on Monday, Dolphy has been responding well to treatment as doctors slowly weaning off his medication
However, Dolphy’s kidney continues to perform below its normal capacity. He will continue to have dialysis while his platelet count remains low, the blood transfusion also still continues, the bulletin said.
He was given some rest over the weekend to be able to recuperate. Blood transfusion and dialysis will resume on Monday.
In a statement, the Quizon family said Dolphy’s health remained relatively unchanged with all his vital organs functioning properly.
The family said Dolphy “continues to be lucid and responsive to communication and interaction” but still cannot speak because of the tube in his neck, which helps him breathe.
The Quizon family also thanked everyone for the continued prayers for the 83-year-old comedian.
Last Friday, Eric Quizon, son of Dolphy said that his father has been responding to them through gestures
He said that the veteran actor also tried to talk to them without sound as he still has a tube on his neck due tracheotomy.
Quizon said his father may be transferred to a regular room from the intensive care unit at the Makati Medical Center sometime this week. Dolphy, was rushed to the Makati Medical Center last June 9. He was diagnosed to be suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
