Miss Russia 1998 Anna Malova to spend winter holidays in U.S. jail

Miss Russia 1998 and former Miss Universe semifinalist Anna Malova, charged in the United States with forging drug prescriptions, will spend Christmas holidays in jail, the New York Post reported.

Malova, 39, was sent to jail in the United States last week after getting thrown out of a drug rehab program for inappropriate behavior. One of the patients at the Bronx drug rehab facility accused Malova of slapping her and acquired an order of protection.

“This patient is still pursuing an order of protection, and as long as that is pending the program can’t bring her back,” the daily quoted Malova’s lawyer Robert Gottlieb as saying.

Malova, 39, was arrested in February 2010 on charges of illegal drug possession, forgery and impersonating a physician. She is suspected of stealing prescription sheets from her doctors in order to get access to Vicodin and Klonopin.

Besides illegal possession of drugs she was also charged with forgery and impersonating a physician, charges she denied.

The U.S. court included her in a 12-month drug addiction treatment program, but the clinic expelled her for assault and battery.

Malova’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 3. The former Miss Russia faces seven years in prison and deportation from the United States if found guilty.

While everyone is busy on holidays 2012 preparations, another Filipina made it to one of the most prestigious beauty pageant in the world.

Miss Philippines’ Gwendolyn Ruais, bagged the first runner up crown in the 2011 Miss World beauty pageant in a star-studded event held at at London’s Earls Court in London.

A total of 113 women competed in this year’s pageant in which Miss Venezuela Ivian Sarcos Colmenares, a 21-year-old human resources graduate from Venezuela emerged as the 2011 Miss World.

The first runner up went to Philippines while Puerto Rico grabbed the third spot. The top seven finalists were from Korea, Venezuela, England, Philippines, Puerto Rico, South Africa, and Scotland.

A jubilant Filipino pageant fanatics was around to cheer Miss Philippines and waved the Philippine flag every time her name was called on stage.

Gwendolyn is a French-Filipino model, who earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management last year in her home country.

Gwendolyn Ruais is the newly crowned Miss Philippines World. She aims to become 1st Filipina to win Miss World this November in London. Gwendolyn is half Filipino half French and is also an International Runway Model.

Shes 5’11 tall, and she wants to be the first Miss World from the Philippines. The closest the country has ever gotten to the crown was in 1966 when Evangeline Pascual won first runner-up, and in 1993 when Ruffa Gutierrez won second runner-up.

Now that most beauty queens in the country are almost treated as a hero specially when they had good placements, most of them enjoys cheap holidays abroad as well.

Shamcey Supsup, Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up was admired worldwide by pageant fans, pageant organizers and celebrities. According to the Miss Universe Organization, Shamcey placed second in the evening gown competition, and supporters believe that she did well in the final question round as well.

Celebrities including Oprah Winfrey was surprised when she learned that Miss Philippines didn’t win the tittle and said :

“I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice. The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point.”

One has to wonder if Oprah Winfrey will be speaking out more and more about different topics. It also might be wondered if she has political aspirations and wants to keep her name relevant as much as possible. Then again as they say, everyone’s entitled to their opinion, and it seems there are many more people besides Oprah who believe Shamcey Supsup should be the Miss Universe 2011 winner.

Shamcey was also admired in the question and answer portion being the only Miss Universe 2011 finalist to have answered the final question without the help of an interpreter. Tony Award winner singer and actress Lea Salonga was one of the nine telecast judges in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant.

The Filipina replied, “If I had to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love because the first person I love is God, who created me. I have my faith and my principles, and this is what makes me who I am. And if that person loves me, he should love my God, too.”

Miss Universe 2011 Winners – Miss Angola is the 2011 Miss Universe

Miss Angola Leila Lopes was crowned Miss Universe 2011 in the much awaited pageant held in Brazil’s Sao Paolo. While all odds and online votes went to the Philippines representative Shamcey Supsup, Lopes proved that she was a strong contender and bested 88 other contestants in the worlds most popular pageant.

China’s Luo Zilin was this years fourth runner-up, Philippines’ Shamcey Supsup was third runner-up, Brazil’s Priscila Machado was the second runner up and Olesia Stefanko from Ukraine was this years first runners up.

Do you believe in life on other planets?

Well, I believe there are other people in other planets because if we are living on earth and it’s a big place… and it is small… you know… thing compared to the galaxy and another galaxy… I believe there are people out there. We just have to find them out sooner.

What advantage do women have over men?

Well, I think one advantage is that we rely on our intuition. And they always say that when a woman has an intuition, it is usually right. So we know if you are lying or not. So guys don’t ever fool us.

If you were an animal, what would you be and why?

Hmmmm… If I’d be an animal, I wanna be bird… because I wanna fly without limit.. like see the mountains and the seas… And you know just feel free and feel the wind on my face. So I’d be a bird, any kind of bird.
