ABS-CBN announced their recently acquired licence to air the Pinoy Version of the Britain’s Got Talent which is dubbed as Pilipinas Got Talent.

Before PGT, TV5 is already airing a show named Talentadong Pinoy which has a very similar format when compared to British Got Talent.

Cinemalaya Cinco awards night was held today, Sunday at the CCP Main Theater. The awards night also marks the end of the 10 day showcasing of the Cinemalaya contenders.

“Last Supper No. 3″ won Best Film in Cinemalaya while “Ang Panggagahasa kay Fe” and “Colorum” both won the special jury award. Lou Veloso won the Best Actor award for his portrayal in “Colorum” and Ina Feleo won the best actress award for her portrayal in “Sanglaan”.

On the other hand, “Bonsai” won the Best Short Film.

Madonna’s stage collapsed while it is being built for her tour in Marseille, France. One person was killed and injured 6 workers. Madonna felt sad about this news. Her statement goes: “My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families, along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news.”

The fire brigade is already investigating the cause of the accident. Until now the cause of the accident is still unknown.

The Department of Justice dismissed the Php 25 Million libel case filed by the Richard Gutierrez against Pep.ph. The reason for dismissal is because of “lack of probable cause”.

Richard filed a libel case against Pep.ph because of the publishing the news online about Richard allegedly had a heated argument with Michael Flores at the parking lot of Oceana Restaurant last March 29,2009. Richard denies the accusations but according to the camp of Pep.ph, they have proofs that it really happened.

American Idol is back in the spotlight a week after it aired it’s season finale due to a voting controversy.  According to a report in The New York Times, telecom giant AT&T may have helped Kris Allen win the title.

The report states that Kris Allen may have received extra votes from the telecom company, who is one of the biggest sponsors of the show. The report claims that representatives from the  company were present at two vote-raising functions for Allen in Arkansas. It was also reported that they ( AT&T) even gave out free mobile phones to the attendees and even taught them how to “power-text” their votes. It has been reported that no similar effort was been made for Adam Lambert.

Both Fox and AT&T claims it is a non-issue. A spokesperson for the company has released this statement: “In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested.”

A joint statement by the show producers and network execs Wednesday defended the integrity of the voting system, saying: “Fox and the producers of ‘American Idol’ are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol. We have an independent third-party monitoring procedure in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process. In no way did any individuals unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.”

Kris Allen is the new American Idol! After a record-breaking number of votes that reached almost 100 million, Allen was declared the winner of this season’s competition– beating favored contestant Adam Lambert.

A hush fell across the crowd as Seacrest poised himself to make the announcement. The bewildered Allen, long called the ‘”dark horse” of the competition, was left speechless after host Ryan Seacrest made the announcement in Wednesday’s season finale at the Nokia Theater in Hollywood. For his part, Adam Lambert took the news graciously, cheering and clapping for Allen.

The finale, which was watched by millions across the world, was filled with stellar guest performers: The Black Eyed Peas, Keith Urban, Cyndi Lauper, Lionel Richie, Carlos Santana, Queen Latifah, comedian Steve Martin, and Rod Stewart all rocked the stage alongside the 2 finalists and Top 13.

The Top 13 also made several performances. David Cook performed “Permanent” as a tribute to his late brother who passed away last month.

Also during the finale, awards were given out to the most memorable characters that graced the show this season. There were 3 categories-Most Memorable Male; Best Attitude; and Most Memorable Female.

The Most Memorable Male Award went to Nick Mitchell aka Norman Gentle, who was wearing “normal clothes” and stripped revealing a Norman Gentle outfit. He went on to sing “And I Am Telling You”, and ran through the crowd handing out the mic to random audience members.

Best Attitude went to “Bikini Girl” Katrina Darell, who came out on stage in a skimpy two-piece and sporting bigger breasts–something that didn’t escape Seacrest’s attention. She took to centerstage and sang her audition piece, “Vision of Love” and was joined by Judge Kara DioGuardi. The stunned Bikini Girl could help but look on as DioGuardi sang, wowing the crowd with her vocal chops and stunning everyone when she pulled open her dress–revealing the two-piece swimsuit she has underneath.

No surprises there when the Most Memorable Female award was given to Tatiana Del Toro, who ran to the stage and sang “Saving All My Love For You” despite being chased all over the stage by security personnel.

Seacrest cued in the music video “ I Will Remember you” by the Final 4. A video of season 6 winner David Cook soon followed where he surprised both Lambert and Allen with a ford fusion 2006 for
each.

Before the winner was announced, Lambert and Allen took to the stage and sang “We Are the Champions” with legendary rock band Queen. The Top 13 and other semifinalists from the Top 24 joined them as the song drew to a close.

After being declared the new American Idol, Kris Allen took to the stage and performed the Winner’s Single “No Boundaries”. With that, another season of American Idol comes to a close.

The rocking Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert totally rocked the stage in Wednesday’s American Idol Rock Week performance night, setting the bar high for the night’s round of competition. Dressed in a total rock outfit of tight black pants, boots and leather jacket, Lambert-who was first to perform-wowed the crowd with his rendition of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love”.

It was all praises for Adam as the judges gave their evaluation of his performance. Randy said “This is the Adam I love! You are a rock star tonight!”, to which Kara followed with ” You’re more than a rock star– you are a rock god!” Paula thought he was ‘a whole lot of perfect”, and Simon jokingly said that “the performance was a little understated.” But seriously, Simon thought it was the best performance and thought no one can top Adam’s performance.

The week’s theme, Rock Week, or to be more precise-Led Zeppellin week- was Adam’s favorite week theme so far, as he said in his video montage. It was also a first on the American Idol competition that a Led Zeppelin week theme was chosen. Another first on the series was the inclusion of a duet between the contestants, something that fans have been wanting from seasons

past. It is a twist on the usual 2 songs that each contestant is given to perform. The week’s mentor is rock superstar guitarist Slash, famous guitarist for Guns n’ Roses and Velvet Revolver.

The only girl left in the competition, Allison Iraheta, performed “Cry Baby” by Janice Joplin. Sporting longer hair thanks to extensions put in by Adam Lambert’s hairstylist, Allison tried her best to put her mark on the rock classic. While they all loved her talent, the judges unanimously didn’t like her song choice. Simon even said he would have chosen a Queen song. Known for being timid and never answering back, Allison surprised everyone when she defended her song choice particularly to Simon Cowell, saying she felt the other choices she had “had already been done on the show”.

The first of 2 duets followed the commercial break after Allison’s performance. Danny Gokey got paired with Kris Allen, and the duo performed “Renegade”. While it wasn’t their genre, both contestants gave their all in their performance. Randy commented that both compliment each other,while Kara thought that although some parts were better, “together it was united and strong.” “It was powerful and compelling,” stated Paula and Simon, ever the bearer of sweet criticism, said “Danny, you were better than Kris.”

Kris Allen chose the Beatle’s song “Come Together”, a song that Micheal Johns also performed in season 6. Slash commented that if he manages to pick up the live performance, that’ll help. Randy liked the performance saying “I like the vocals; I like how you were playing the guitar.” Kara called him “the softer side of rock”; she also expressed how she felt Kris was trying too hard with his performance. Paula commented it lacked a little energy and Simon said he didn’t like it. He went on to compare Kris’ performance to having ice for lunch. “It leaves you nothing to remember,” Simon said,”And when I said nothing could top Adam’s performance earlier, I was right.”

Aerosmith’s “Dream On” was Danny Gokey’s song of choice. Slash marvelled at Danny’s vocal range, saying he’s “Naturally gifted. He just needs to get that scream at the end.” And scream he did.

Randy gave him an A for a valiant effort; Kara says she doesn’t see him doing “this” and said she sees him doing something more of Aerosmith’s earlier songs like Crazy or Crying. Paula Abdul didn’t think it was the right song choice either, and Simon agrees. He went on to say that “The last note– it was like watching a horror movie.” “It was a little over the top. With Adam it worked, with you, not so much. I still think you would be safe tonight,” ended Simon on his critique.

Bringing the night’s performances to a close was the duet between Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert. The pair’s performance of Foghat’s ““Slow Ride” aptly epitomizes this week’s theme. The judges called them rock stars, and Randy suggested they should do a duet on their respective albums. Kara exclaimed “This is when a duet is just right!” Paula called it a “perfect marriage”. “In the battle of the duets, you win the show tonight,” Simon said. On a personal comment to Adam,while pointing to Allison, he said ” Adam, you may have given this one a chance to stay in the competition.”
