The third night of American Idol auditions was held in San Francisco and despite a lot of hoopla around the venue very few contestants made it to the next round which will be held in Hollywood. Some of the qualifying participants include:
Tatiana del Toro : A popular favorite from the city, Tatiana made a rather good impression both with her outfit and her accent. She sand Aretha Franklin’s ‘Never Loved a Man.’ She didn’t sound bad at all, but she is certainly not yet the big voiced R&B singer she wants to become.
Jesus Valenzula : A family man, with a jazzy voice, he won over two judges very easily with his rendition of ‘Nice and Slow’ and ‘Unchained Melody.’ He was accompanied and supported by his entire family and he said he was auditioning for his children who showed there support with cute handmade posters.
Kai Kalama : He is one of the few participants who wooed all the three judges. He sang ‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes’ by The Platters which was instantly liked by everyone. He also has a rather heartwarming tale of a mother, suffering from a seizure disorder, who he takes care of during the day and earns money by playing music in the night.
Adam Lambert : His choice of song could have gone either way. He sang Queen’s song ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and he nailed it and how! With his personality, looks and voice he is likely to go far beyond the next round at Hollywood.
Meanwhile heres the list of eliminated contestants in American Idol San Francisco Audition:
- Dean Anthony Bradford Song: Stars by Simply Red
- Dalton Powell Song: Ooh Baby Baby by Smokey Robinson
- Akilah Askew Gholston Song: Make Sweet Love
- Annie Murdoch Song: Summertime
So far, none of the American Idols have come from the city of San Francisco. The closest to reaching the top was contestant Katharine McPhee who was a runner up in Season 5.
It will be interesting to see if any contestants from this audition will make it to the very top of American Idols this season.
