American Idol Hopeful Alexis Grace Sent Home
American Idol hopeful Alexis Grace was sent home Wednesday night during the live results show. Grace got the least amount of votes from viewers who placed in their votes via text messaging and calling a toll-free number.
The theme for this past week was songs from “The Grand Ole Opry”. Each contestant chose a song from that songbook and gave guest Randy Travis a preview of how they plan to interpret the song.
The 11 Idol hopefuls opened the show with a production number, as contestant Scott Mcintyre played the piano.
Before the results were read, host Ryan Seacrest introduced a video tribute for Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nunez. Both contestants got eliminated last week.
Before Seacrest started giving out the results, he announced that only the ten who will go through next week will go on the American Idol Tour. First to be called was Danny Gokey who sang Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take The Wheel”. He is safe and Seacrest welcomes him to the tour. Next to be called are Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai who Seacrest announced to be safe. Allison Iraheta and Micheal Sarver were both called to stand up next. After giving a recap of their performances and the judges comments, Seacreast announced that Allison Iraheta in the Bottom 3. But before Micheal Sarver could rejoice, Seacrest also announced that he was in the Bottom 3 as well.
Country crooner Ben Paisley performed after the break. clad in blue jeans, a black long sleeved shirt, boots and a white cowboy hat, Paisely performed his song “Then.”
The show pauses for another break before Ryan Seacrest commenced with announcing the results. Scott Mcintyre and Megan Joy Corkerey were both safe. Matt Giraud, who closed the performance show with ” So Small” was also declared safe. So was Kris Allen. So it was down to Alexis Grace and Adam Lambert. Grace performed ” Jolene”, while Lambert chose to perform “Ring Of Fire.” Before he continued, Seacrest asked Judge Randy Jackson who he thinks is in the bottom 3 between the two. Jackson answered it was Grace.
And so it was. Seacrest announced that it was indeed Alexis Grace who rounded up the Bottom 3. Adam Lambert was safe. Without missing a beat, Seacrest then called the Bottom 3 and sent Allison Iraheta to sit with the rest of the contestant because she was also safe. Now, only Micheal Sarver and Alexis grace are left.
The show paused for another break and when it returned, american idol Carrie Underwood and legendary country star Randy Travis performed “I Told You So.”
Ryan Seacrest asked Simon Cowell if the judges thought of using the Judges Save tonight. He answered yes, tht there is someone they think is worthy of being saved that night.
After another break, Seacrest finally announced the last American Idol to make it to the Top 10. 3 Million votes have been cast the night before; Micheal Sarver is safe. Simon Cowell said that it was actually Alexis Grace whom they thought of saving. Grace was asked to sing one more time as the judges deliberated whether or not to save her.
Yet her performance didn’t save her. Simon Cowell delivered the bad news, saying “Sorry. It’s the end of the line .” He added, “it was good, but not good enough.” And with that, Alexis Grace was sent home.
