Famous American Idol Finalists

Taylor Hicks : American Idol

Taylor Hicks : American Idol

As said before, when it comes to American Idol, the champions are not the only ones who have their moment in the spotlight. As a matter of fact, many finalists have gathered enough exposure on AI to launch music careers on their own.

Because many record labels recognize their talent and their impressive work ethics, it isn’t a surprise that we hear of non-winners who are making their own marks in the music biz. Here are some more tidbits on successful AI finalists:

Perhaps it was the fifth season of American Idol that brought the most number of successful stars to the record industry. It seems that then winner Taylor Hicks has become overshadowed by some of his former competitors: Katharine McPhee, Elliot Yamin, Chris Daughtry, and Kellie Pickler to name a few, who each shone in their own genres, catering to millions of fan bases worldwide.

It’s hard to forget the sultry and beautiful Katharine McPhee, who emerged from the runner-up position in Season 5 and blossomed into a successful singer, actress, and product endorser. Katharine’s first launch was her self-titled album in 2007, which ranked number 2 on US charts, and brought the hits “Over It” and “Love Story.” In that same year, she became an endorser for Neutrogena. She also starred in the recent comedy, “The House Bunny” with Anna Faris. Continue Reading

American Idol Season 8 Early Favorites

Katrina Darrel

Katrina Darrel

Although this season of American Idol has only just begun and it is too early in the season to name favorites, it hasn’t stopped some contestants from being more popular and better liked than some of the others. Here are some of the early favorites that have emerged in the season 8 of American Idol so far:

Michael Sarver : This contestant, as an oil rig worker, does one of the top most dangerous jobs in the country. A resident of Jasper, Texas, while he risks his life everyday he also manages to sing a song beautifully. He sang “Thank You” by Boyz II Men and sounded so good, he won instant approval of the audience.

Katrina Darrell : Auditioning in a bikini, that added a large dose of immediate attraction, Katrina Darrell sang ‘Vision Of Love’ by Mariah Carey. She has moved on to the Hollywood round, but we sure hope that she goes much further than that.

Scott McIntyre : This blind, but wonderfully talented contestant sang ‘And So It Goes’ by Billy Joel. He was reminiscent of a number of blind musical prodigies of our age and we sure hope he goes very far ahead in this contest.

Deanna Brown : She was amongst the most popular contestants on the opening night of this season of American Idol. The contestant from Louisville, Kentucky stole our hearts by her brilliant rendition of Otis Redding’s one of more popular tunes ‘Sitting’ By the Dock of the Bay.’ She was immediately liked by all the judges and audience members alike.

Although the contest is only just beginning, and like every other season is bound to be filled with surprises, one hopes that the spark of talent we saw in the auditions only develops further as the show goes on and achieves deserved recognition and acknowledgement.

Britney with Sam - the former manager

Britney Spears is back in the headlines again as her former self-styled manager filed a law suit against her.

The former talent manager claims that Britney’s parents defamed him and that he was owed unpaid management fees.

Osama “Sam” Lutfi filed suit against Spears and her parents in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging libel, defamation, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and breach of contract.

Sam Lutfi’s attorney, Bryan J. Freedman said in a statement Tuesday that there is “overwhelming evidence from independent witnesses” proving his client’s case and that “at the time of the trial in this action, the jury will have an opportunity to weigh the credibility of the witnesses.”

Spears is currently rebuilding her career after a prolonged period of turmoil in her private life following her 2006 split from ex-husband Kevin Federline.
